First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether an 8-week breathing exercise program can improve respiratory muscle strength in frail adults aged 80 and older. Participants are randomly assigned to either a real training group or a sham (placebo) group. The main goal is to see if the exercises increase breathing muscle strength, measured by a pressure test and ultrasound. The study aims to provide evidence for a simple, low-cost way to support respiratory health in very old adults.
