Fat grafting before implant may ease pain and improve breast reconstruction
NCT ID NCT04343820
First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested a breast reconstruction method for women who had a mastectomy (breast removal) due to breast cancer. The approach places a breast implant under the skin instead of under the chest muscle, after using fat grafts to prepare the area. The goal was to see if this method reduces muscle pain, implant movement, and other complications, while improving how the breast looks and the patient's quality of life. Sixty women took part, and the study tracked complications and cosmetic results for 12 months.
