Fat grafting before implant may ease pain and improve breast reconstruction results
NCT ID NCT04343820
First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested a breast reconstruction method for women who had a mastectomy (breast removal) due to cancer. Instead of placing the implant under the chest muscle, doctors first used fat grafting to prepare the skin and then placed the implant just under the skin. The goal was to reduce muscle pain, avoid implant movement, and improve how the breast looks and feels. Sixty women took part, and the researchers tracked complications and cosmetic results for one year.
