New ultrasound trick could make breast cancer surgery more precise

NCT ID NCT07554781

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a color Doppler ultrasound feature called the 'twinkling artifact' can make breast tissue marker clips easier to see. These clips are placed to mark suspicious areas in the breast or lymph nodes. The study will review past images from about 86 women with breast cancer to see how often the clips show this twinkling effect. If successful, this could help surgeons remove cancer more accurately and reduce the need for repeat surgeries.
