Tiny seed vs metal wire: the battle to pinpoint breast cancer

NCT ID NCT02759133

Summary

This study tested a new way to mark small, hidden breast tumors before surgery. It compared a tiny radioactive seed implanted near the tumor to the standard method of using a metal wire that sticks out of the breast. The goal was to see if the seed method was as good or better at helping surgeons remove all the cancer while causing less pain and hassle for patients.
