Could a simple needle test help some breast cancer patients skip surgery?

NCT ID NCT02455791

Summary

This study is testing if a needle biopsy can accurately tell when breast cancer has been completely eliminated by chemotherapy before surgery. Researchers are comparing the biopsy results to what is found during the standard surgery that follows chemotherapy. The goal is to see if the biopsy is reliable enough that some patients with a good response might safely avoid having surgery.
