Could adding vorinostat to chemo shrink breast tumors better before surgery?
NCT ID NCT00616967
First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding the drug vorinostat to standard chemotherapy (carboplatin and nab-paclitaxel) before surgery could improve outcomes for women with HER2-negative breast cancer. About 68 participants received either the chemo combo with vorinostat or a placebo. The main goal was to see if the tumor disappeared completely in the breast and lymph nodes by the time of surgery. The approach aims to shrink tumors more effectively, potentially allowing for less extensive surgery.
