New light scan could tell doctors if chemo is working in days
NCT ID NCT02510456
Summary
This study tested a new, non-invasive imaging tool that uses harmless near-infrared light to scan breast tumors. The goal was to see if this scan could predict early on whether a patient's chemotherapy was working, potentially allowing doctors to adjust treatment plans sooner. The study involved women with breast cancer who were receiving chemotherapy before surgery. Researchers compared the scan results to the final pathology results from surgery to check the scan's accuracy.
