New light scan could tell doctors if chemo is working in days

NCT ID NCT02510456

Summary

This study tested a new, non-invasive imaging tool called DOSI that uses harmless near-infrared light to scan breast tumors. The goal was to see if this scan, performed during the first days of chemotherapy, could predict whether the treatment would ultimately be successful. Researchers enrolled 24 women with breast cancer to compare the scan results with the final surgical pathology results.
