Lab-Grown tumors could unlock secrets of chemo resistance in breast cancer

NCT ID NCT07516626

First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study aims to understand why some breast cancers resist chemotherapy. Researchers will grow miniature 3D tumor models (organoids) from patient tissue samples and test how they respond to drugs. By linking lab results to actual patient outcomes, they hope to find ways to predict resistance and identify existing drugs that could be repurposed to overcome it. The study involves 40 women with locally advanced breast cancer who are scheduled for chemotherapy before surgery.
