Scientists read minds to build future speech devices

NCT ID NCT07460037

Summary

This study aims to understand how the brain imagines speaking Mandarin Chinese, including its unique tones, without actually moving the mouth. Researchers will record brain activity from about 50 adults who are already having brain surgery for conditions like epilepsy or tumors. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help build communication technology for people who have lost the ability to speak.
