Brain study reveals how frontal lobe damage affects reasoning

NCT ID NCT02236832

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at how the prefrontal cortex helps us think in analogies and categories. Researchers tested healthy volunteers and patients with frontotemporal dementia or progressive supranuclear palsy using tasks that measure reaction time and accuracy. They also used brain scans and EEG to see which brain areas are involved. The goal was to better understand how frontal lobe damage affects reasoning, not to test a treatment.
