Scientists peer inside the brain to solve Parkinson's walking mystery
NCT ID NCT07092995
Summary
This study aims to understand why people with Parkinson's disease experience 'freezing of gait' - sudden inability to start or continue walking. Researchers will record brain activity from 36 Parkinson's patients who already have deep brain stimulation devices implanted, while they walk in virtual reality environments designed to trigger freezing episodes. The goal is to identify brain patterns associated with freezing to guide future treatments, but this study itself does not test any new therapies.
