Could extra brain zaps tame OCD? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT04958096

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a second type of brain stimulation (cortical stimulation) to standard deep brain stimulation (DBS) can better treat severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Researchers will record brain signals and test symptom changes in 15 adults with OCD who have not improved with other treatments. The goal is to find abnormal brain patterns linked to OCD and see if stimulating those areas can reduce symptoms over two years.
