Zap your brain to find words: tiny study tests electric boost for TBI patients

NCT ID NCT05408975

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This small study tested whether a low-level electric current applied to a memory-related brain area could improve word-finding in 5 civilians who had a traumatic brain injury at least a year prior. Participants received both real and fake stimulation to compare effects. The goal was to see if this safe, non-invasive technique could ease the frustrating symptom of struggling to recall words.
