Brain zaps tested for untreatable nerve pain

NCT ID NCT07057206

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a surgically implanted brain stimulation device can reduce severe, treatment-resistant nerve pain. Researchers will enroll 20 adults with chronic pain conditions like post-stroke pain or postherpetic neuralgia who haven't found relief from other treatments. The study will first check if the surgical procedure is feasible and safe, then measure whether the brain stimulation actually reduces participants' pain levels.
