Zapping the brain to get veterans moving

NCT ID NCT03733041

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether magnetic stimulation to the front part of the brain can help older veterans who have trouble sticking with an exercise program. 72 sedentary veterans aged 60 and older were asked to exercise at home using a Nintendo Wii-Fit for 45 minutes a day, five days a week. Those who didn't exercise enough or had low brain function received either real or fake magnetic stimulation to see if it improved their adherence, balance, and thinking skills.
