New hope for Radiation-Damaged brains: drug trial challenges steroid standard

NCT ID NCT06888817

Summary

This study compares two treatments for brain swelling (radiation necrosis) that can occur after radiation therapy for brain tumors or metastases. 408 patients will receive either the standard steroid treatment (dexamethasone) or an alternative drug called bevacizumab, given intravenously every three weeks. The goal is to see which treatment better controls symptoms while allowing patients to use less steroids, which often cause significant side effects.
