Brain zapping study reveals how pain relief works in the mind

NCT ID NCT02849834

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at how a non-invasive magnetic brain stimulation technique called rTMS changes brain activity in healthy volunteers and people with long-term nerve pain. Researchers measured brain responses before and after stimulation to see if these changes relate to pain relief. The goal was to better understand how rTMS works, not to test a new treatment.
