Summary
This study aimed to understand how the brain responds to pain while a patient is under general anesthesia. Researchers used a special light-based scanner on the heads of 44 young patients undergoing heart procedures to measure blood flow changes in the brain during painful moments. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about pain processing during surgery, not to test a new treatment.
