This study aimed to understand how the brain processes pain in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), especially those who also have other chronic pain conditions. Researchers used brain scans to see if a medication called desipramine could change brain activity related to pain signals. The study was small and was terminated early, so its results are limited.
