Brain implant aims to stop seizures before they begin
NCT ID NCT05439655
Summary
This study is testing a new brain implant system designed to detect early warning signals of epileptic seizures and deliver targeted electrical stimulation to prevent seizures from occurring. Researchers are working with 12 adults and children with drug-resistant epilepsy to see if the system can reliably detect these signals and accurately locate the seizure source in the brain. If successful in this initial testing phase, the system could be tested in a future clinical trial as a long-term implanted device for seizure control.
