Old drug, new target: can a fungus fighter slow brain cancer?

NCT ID NCT04825275

Summary

This small, early-stage study aimed to see if a common antifungal drug called posaconazole could get into brain tumors at high enough levels to potentially stop cancer cells from growing. Researchers gave the drug to a few adults with a type of aggressive brain cancer before their surgery. They used special catheters to measure the drug levels directly in the brain and tumor tissue to see if it was worth studying further as a treatment.
