Checkmate for forgetfulness? study tests ancient games against memory loss
NCT ID NCT06281652
Summary
This study investigated whether learning to play the traditional board games Go or Chess could help people with early memory concerns. 80 participants with mild cognitive impairment or subjective cognitive decline were assigned to learn one game, both games, or be in a control group for 12 weeks. Researchers measured changes in memory, thinking skills, mood, and quality of life to see if playing these strategic games provides mental benefits.
