Needle-Free liver check: new blood test study could end painful biopsies

NCT ID NCT06819917

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study aims to find new blood-based tests that can accurately detect liver scarring (fibrosis) in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, without needing a painful liver biopsy. Researchers will collect blood samples and ultrasound data from 575 adults with suspected liver fibrosis and compare them to biopsy results. The goal is to develop simpler, noninvasive diagnostic tools to identify the stage of liver disease.
