Blood test may spare elderly fallers from unnecessary brain scans
NCT ID NCT07342023
First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a blood test can detect brain bleeding in older adults (75+) who fall often. Instead of always using a CT scan, which can be hard to get quickly, researchers will measure two blood markers (GFAP and UCH-L1) with a portable device. The goal is to see if this test is accurate enough to safely avoid some CT scans. About 770 people will take part.
