New blood chip could spot Alzheimer's early
NCT ID NCT07307872
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a new blood test that uses a special chip to measure two key markers (amyloid-β and PKC) in red blood cells to help diagnose Alzheimer's disease. Researchers collected blood and urine samples from 150 people—50 with Alzheimer's, 50 with other brain diseases, and 50 healthy volunteers. The goal was to see if this simple, non-invasive test could accurately tell Alzheimer's apart from other conditions, potentially offering a cheaper and easier alternative to spinal taps or brain scans.
