First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests a technique called acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) to see if it can reduce the need for blood transfusions in 2000 high-risk cardiac surgery patients. ANH involves temporarily removing some blood before surgery and replacing it with fluids, then returning the blood after surgery. The goal is to lower complications and improve blood management during heart operations.
