Can a brief clamp boost blood flow in skin tumors?
NCT ID NCT01455363
First seen Nov 28, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether temporarily stopping blood flow to a skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma) and then releasing it causes a surge in blood flow through the tumor. Researchers used a special camera to measure blood flow in 12 patients during surgery. The goal was to see if this technique could one day help make treatments like radiation or chemotherapy more effective by reducing tumor hypoxia.
