Can boosting tumor blood flow make cancer treatment more effective?
NCT ID NCT01455363
First seen Nov 28, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested whether temporarily stopping blood flow to a skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma) and then releasing it could increase blood flow to the tumor. 12 adults with this skin cancer had their tumor's blood supply briefly clamped during surgery. Researchers used a special camera to measure blood flow changes. The goal was to see if this technique could later be used to improve the effectiveness of treatments like chemotherapy or radiation.
