First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether a monthly pill called risedronate can reduce bone and muscle loss that often happens after weight-loss surgery. About 200 people who have had sleeve gastrectomy will take either the drug or a placebo for 6 months and be followed for a year. The goal is to see if this FDA-approved osteoporosis drug can protect bone health in this specific situation.
