Could a pinch of bismuth beat stubborn stomach bugs?

NCT ID NCT07576959

First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding bismuth to a 14-day stomach-acid-blocker-and-antibiotic treatment works better for wiping out H. pylori bacteria in adults who haven't been treated before. About 990 participants will be randomly assigned to get the dual therapy with or without bismuth. The main goal is to see which group has a higher infection-clearing rate, measured by a breath test six weeks after treatment ends.
