Mild brain zaps show promise for stroke hand recovery

NCT ID NCT06809959

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tested a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tACS in 20 stroke survivors who had hand and arm weakness. The goal was to see if it could strengthen connections between brain areas involved in movement. Researchers measured brain activity and hand movement before and after stimulation, comparing real stimulation to a placebo. The study was completed and focused on understanding how the brain responds, not on providing a treatment.
