New 3D-printed foot lets women vets wear any shoe they want

NCT ID NCT05601869

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a new 3D-printed prosthetic foot that lets women veterans with below-knee amputations wear any shoe they choose. Many current artificial feet don't change shape, limiting footwear options and affecting body image and social life. About 18 women will try the new device to see if it improves how they feel about their body and their ability to take part in community activities.
