Heart study aims to cut unnecessary pacemaker implants by half
NCT ID NCT04225520
First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a heart ultrasound can better identify which heart failure patients truly benefit from a special pacemaker (CRT). Currently, 30-40% of patients who get the device don't improve. The trial will compare standard selection methods with an ultrasound-based approach in 500 patients. The goal is to see if the ultrasound method leads to fewer unnecessary implants without harming outcomes.
