New scan could reduce unnecessary breast biopsies

NCT ID NCT05046301

Summary

This study is testing whether a special type of mammogram, called contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), can better predict if suspicious white spots (calcifications) seen on a regular mammogram are actually cancer. Researchers will compare CEM results to standard mammograms in 59 women who already need a biopsy for these spots. The goal is to see if this new method can more accurately tell who needs a biopsy and who doesn't, potentially reducing over-diagnosis and unnecessary procedures.
