Heart infection treatment gets smarter: new study aims to tailor antibiotic doses

NCT ID NCT04647331

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at how the body processes antibiotics in 150 people with a serious heart infection called endocarditis. Researchers will measure drug levels in the blood and use that data to create a model that predicts the best dose for each patient. The goal is to make sure everyone gets enough antibiotic to fight the infection without getting too much, which can cause side effects.
