NCT ID NCT07421271

First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at 86 boys who had surgery to fix a common birth defect where the urine opening is on the underside of the penis (distal hypospadias). The goal was to find the best way to drain urine after surgery to prevent complications like fistulas (abnormal openings). Researchers compared using a tube in the urethra alone versus adding a tube through the belly, and also compared leaving the tube in for one week versus two weeks. The main outcome was how often fistulas occurred.
