First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study in Bangladesh looks at whether giving pregnant women a special balanced energy and protein supplement can help babies be born at a healthier weight and reduce problems like low birth weight and preterm birth. About 3,390 women will be randomly assigned to receive either the supplement or a standard vitamin pill, with some groups getting the supplement only if they are underweight. The goal is to see if this approach improves birth outcomes compared to standard care.
