New hope for stopping severe Self-Harm in developmental disabilities

NCT ID NCT03995966

Summary

This study aims to compare two behavioral therapy approaches for people with intellectual disabilities who engage in severe, treatment-resistant self-injurious behavior. The trial will enroll 16 participants, aged 4 to 25, who have a specific subtype of this behavior that does not respond well to standard treatments. Researchers will test whether a more intensive combination therapy works better than a widely used standard therapy at reducing self-harm and related behaviors.
