Summary
This study tested a program that combines counseling (behavioral activation) with medication adjustments to reduce depression and anxiety in older adults (age 60+) having heart surgery. 105 participants were split into two groups: one received the program, the other got usual care. The goal was to see if the program improved mood and anxiety scores three months after surgery.
