Sound waves open Brain's defenses to attack cancer

NCT ID NCT03714243

First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether using focused ultrasound to temporarily open the blood-brain barrier is safe for people with Her2-positive breast cancer that has spread to the brain. Eight participants received the treatment, and researchers monitored for side effects and checked if the barrier opened successfully using MRI scans. The goal was to see if this approach could help future treatments reach brain tumors more effectively.
