First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at whether bacteria from the gut can travel to other parts of the body during abdominal surgery and cause wound infections. About 209 adults having planned abdominal surgery will provide skin, gut, blood, and tissue samples. Researchers will use genetic sequencing to track bacterial movement and see if it relates to infections after surgery.
