Lung cancer drug interaction study: what happens when you add a statin?
NCT ID NCT02197234
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at how the lung cancer drug AZD9291 (osimertinib) changes the way the body processes simvastatin, a common cholesterol medicine. It involved 52 adults with a specific type of advanced lung cancer (EGFR mutation-positive) whose disease had worsened after previous targeted therapy. The goal was to measure drug levels in the blood to understand potential interactions, not to test the cancer treatment itself.
