Ancient brew vs modern drug: Head-to-Head depression battle
NCT ID NCT07212946
Summary
This study tested whether four weekly doses of ayahuasca (a traditional plant brew) or esketamine (a modern antidepressant) could help people with severe depression. Twenty-two patients participated in this carefully designed trial where neither they nor the researchers knew which treatment they received. The goal was to compare how well these two very different approaches reduced depression symptoms.
