Heart attack breakthrough? common drug tested to stop deadly rhythms during surgery

NCT ID NCT07268586

Summary

This study tested whether giving the drug atropine during emergency heart attack treatment could prevent dangerous heart rhythm problems. Researchers enrolled 158 people having a specific type of heart attack (inferior STEMI) who were undergoing a procedure to open a blocked artery. They wanted to see if atropine, which increases heart rate, would reduce complications like abnormal heartbeats and low blood pressure that sometimes occur when blood flow is restored.
