Sleep apnea may leave hidden scars on the heart, new study investigates

Summary
This study looks at whether sleep apnea can cause scarring in the heart's upper chambers, even before a heart rhythm problem develops. Researchers will use special MRI scans to measure scarring in 60 adults with different severities of sleep apnea, some with and some without atrial fibrillation. The goal is to better understand how sleep apnea may harm the heart over time.
