New hope for older breast cancer patients: targeted therapy T-DM1 tested in clinical trial

Summary

This study is for older adults with HER2-positive breast cancer, a type that has too much of a protein called HER2. The trial tests a drug called T-DM1, which combines a targeted antibody with chemotherapy to kill cancer cells. The goal is to see if giving T-DM1 after surgery helps prevent the cancer from coming back. About 111 participants are enrolled in this phase 2 study.
