New eye injection aims to slow vision loss from macular degeneration

NCT ID NCT06970665

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests the safety of a monthly eye injection called ASP3021 in 20 Japanese adults aged 40+ with geographic atrophy, a form of advanced age-related macular degeneration that causes gradual vision loss. Participants receive 12 monthly injections into the affected eye and are monitored for side effects over about one year. The goal is to see if the treatment is safe and well-tolerated, not to cure the condition.
