Can simulated sunlight reboot the brain after stroke?
NCT ID NCT07758257
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This trial explores whether exposure to artificial light that mimics natural sunlight can improve brain activity, heart rate regulation, and movement in people who have had a stroke. Thirty chronic stroke survivors will undergo light sessions while their brain waves and heart rhythms are recorded, and they will complete walking, balance, and thinking tests before and after. The goal is to see if this simple light therapy could support recovery of motor and cognitive function.

- Active substance
- Artificial light simulating natural sunlight (CoeLux)
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this could offer a simple, non-invasive way to boost motor and cognitive recovery in chronic stroke survivors.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early-stage study, so results may not apply broadly. Light exposure may have limited or temporary effects, and individual responses can vary.
